Laser Welding

Precision handheld laser welding for fabrication and repair

Elite Welding & Fabrication offers handheld laser welding services from our shop in Galesburg, Michigan. Laser welding uses a concentrated beam of light to join metals with pinpoint accuracy, producing strong, clean welds with significantly less heat input than traditional MIG or TIG processes. The result is less distortion, less cleanup, and faster turnaround on your parts, whether you need a single component or a full production run.

We work with carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, and our team brings the same attention to quality and detail to every laser welding project that our customers have come to expect across all of our welding and custom metal fabrication services.

Why Laser Welding?

Laser welding is one of the fastest-growing joining technologies in metal fabrication, and for good reason. Compared to traditional welding methods, handheld laser welding delivers a combination of speed, precision, and weld quality that is difficult to match.

Faster welding speeds. Laser welding can be significantly faster than TIG welding on comparable joints. That speed translates directly to shorter lead times and lower labor costs on your project.

Minimal heat distortion. The laser concentrates energy on a very small area, creating a narrow heat-affected zone. This means your parts hold their shape, which is especially important when working with thin materials or components with tight tolerances.

Cleaner welds with less post-processing. Laser welds produce no spatter and a smooth, consistent bead. In many cases, parts come off the table ready for the next step with little or no grinding, sanding, or other cleanup required.

Strong, high-quality joints. The focused energy of the laser produces deep-penetration welds with excellent fusion. The result is a strong, reliable joint that looks as good as it performs.

Works well on a range of materials. Laser welding handles carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum effectively, including thin-to-thick joints where controlling heat input on the thinner material is critical.

Our Laser Welding Capabilities

Our handheld laser welding equipment gives us the flexibility to handle both precision work and larger fabrication projects. Because the process is manual, we can work on parts and assemblies of varying shapes, sizes, and joint configurations – including fillet welds, butt joints, lap joints, and edge welds.

Materials we laser weld:

  • Carbon steel
  • Stainless steel
  • Aluminum
